Florida Man Report for April 13

April 13 – Florida Man Gives an Aggressive Coyote A Punt to the Face Outside Kissimmee Resort

Coyotes are known to be territorial animals especially when they’re caring for their young ones. However, a Florida man showed an aggressive coyote who’s boss when it attacked him from a nearby bush. The mammal was given a swift kick to the face and immediately fell to the ground. While the man got away, two people were reportedly suffering injuries from the same animal.

It all happened just by the front gate of the Emerald Island Resort in Kissimmee, Florida. The resort’s surveillance camera shows a man walking by the walkway when a coyote runs toward him from a nearby forest. The animal reportedly ran toward the man growling at him and threatening to attack.

Before the animal gets close, the man is seen wielding his hands in the air to scare it away. But the animal doesn’t flinch. Instead, it continues to confront him before it receives a hot punt to the face. The kick was a little heavy for the coyote as it fell immediately and lay there for a few moments.

The surveillance camera shows the animal getting up later and approaching a nearby vehicle before exiting the area. Beyond this encounter, the animal is said to have attacked two more people, one of them being a woman who was planting flowers in her yard.

The woman’s husband heard some commotion in the yard, only to find his wife punching a coyote. While she was doing all she could to get rid of it, the animal ended up biting her. The victim’s husband, Tom O’Donnell, came to the rescue, choking it until it released his wife. He and his neighbor then tied, snouted, and caged it as they waited for animal control. The animal reportedly died shortly after.

April 13 – Gainesville Man Arrested For Stabbing Man in Back After a Hat Argument

A Florida man was arrested for reportedly flaring up on another man after a heated argument about his hat. The suspect, Dominic R. Lapastina, faced aggravated battery charges for the fight that happened at a downtown bar in Gainesville, as per arrest reports from the Gainesville Police Department.

Lapastina, 34, was drinking with the victim at Lillian’s bar on Archer Road when the duo started exchanging words about his hat. While the deputies went without disclosing the contents of the 34-year-old, he was outraged by his mate’s remarks. The arrest report states that the victim sustained an inch-long puncture wound to his lower back near the spine.

According to a witness, Lapastina broke out on the victim, beat, and stabbed him amid the argument. The victim was then rushed to the UF Health Shands Hospital and immediately admitted. He was then transferred to the intensive care unit (ICU) for losing blood.

Besides the inch-long puncture wound, the victim sustained numerous scratches on the face and arms. After a close assessment, the puncture wound was said to have been consistent with a pocket knife. Police were dispatched to the hospital at 3:00 a.m. to assess the situation further.

The police caught up with Lapastina and detained him at the Alachua County Jail. The man was consigned on a $250,000 bond, having been charged with aggravated battery.

This is just one among many cases of bar stabbing. In another case, two men got into an argument in a bar along West University Avenue. While the subject of the argument wasn’t disclosed, the two men were passionate about their reservations on the subject, to the point of walking outside to a private garage.

One of the two men was seen pulling out a knife and stabbing his peer in the torso. The suspect then ran off. However, the victim was rushed to hospital and treated with non-life threatening injuries.
