Florida Man Report – April 20
April 20 – Florida Man Fights Aggressive Coyote with Coffee Cup: “I’d Do it Again”
It takes a strong weapon and probably some good arm strength to fight off a coyote. However, a Florida man reportedly managed to fight the animal using a mere coffee cup, protecting his dogs, himself, and his neighborhood.
Ben Pool, a Fruitland Park resident, was taking a walk with his dog when he and the pet met a coyote. Feeling the tension growing between the two animals, Pool said he jumped in and managed to separate them. This turned the coyote’s attention to him, prompting him to resist it using any available weapon. He had a coffee cup in hand and hit its head to the side of the coyote after it tried to attack his legs.
The animal advanced to him again, causing him to strike it in the same way for the second time. In retaliation, the coyote jumped at Pool’s face who jumped back and “smashed” it with the cup on the side of the head. At this, the animal screamed as if in pain and retreated, according to Pool.
However, the fight wasn’t over as the animal had probably gone off for a little recharge. By the time the coyote was seeking revenge, the man and his pet gotten up the street and gone home. But the coyote followed them all the way without flinching at any vocal threats Pool made. The more the man tried to scare it away, the more aggravated the animal got and went after him.
Such desperate times called for desperate actions, leading to Pool pulling out his gun. The man took off into his truck, at least managing to keep a boundary between him and the extremely aggressive animal. He waited for the coyote that was relentlessly following him to get to a good distance then opened fire on it. After three or four shots, Pool ran his truck over the animal, completely tranquilizing the situation.
Pool faced no legal problems for killing and running over the coyote, said the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission officials.

April 20 – Cops Arrest Florida Men After Finding Over 4 Pounds of Cocaine in Lunchables
The police started by clearing the vehicle off the suspects and began the search. Their overspeeding proved a dumb move but something else was dumber – the lunchables boxes looked bigger and felt heavier than usual. Besides, they were within the scope of first glance. But even before the cops looked to the boxes, they noticed a semiautomatic handgun and confiscated it.
Normally, lunchables boxes are as light as to be carried by one hand. However, the cops had to use two hands to sustain the heavy weight of one box. So they decided to unravel the boxes, probably thinking, “How heavy of luncheon meat, corn syrup, and crackers!” But it was purely coke. No Lunchables cubies to at least confuse anyone that tried to open the boxes, just coke from the bottom to the top of the boxes.
What was thought of as a mere case of lane change and speed violations dramatically turned out into something more serious. 21-year-old Nelson Lopez III and Nelson Lopez Jr. 41 from Zephyrhills, Florida were immediately arrested and later charged with possession and trafficking in cocaine. The duo also faced a $40,000 fine with the possibility of serving 22 years in prison.
