May 26 – Florida Man Steals From Convenience Store But Leaves Debit Card Behind

If you haven’t heard it yet, you can walk up to a convenience store in Florida, take some goodies, and leave your debit card to come pay later! That would be a weird accident! A Florida man claims he tried to be on the good side of the law when he walked into a store and left with some items unpaid. His intentions were right, he said, because he left behind his debit card, which could be easily swiped, and pay for the items he took, or rather stole.

Unfortunately, good intentions did not justify an unlawful act. Lantz Kurtz was considered a burglar in the eyes of law enforcement authorities, worthy of an arrest for burglary and theft. I mean, the man left his debit card to show he really needed the items he took. However, the act of breaking into a closed store didn’t augur well with the law, apparently.

Kurtz was captured by a surveillance camera, besides his full identity being on the debit card. As such, the police had all it took to nab him and place him in cuffs before he could explain what transpired that day. In a Facebook video shared by Sheriff Rick Staly, Kurtz denied claims that he had mistakenly left his debit card. He tried to prove his innocence in this case, reassuring the cops that he knew stealing was against the law.

Using the surveillance video and Kurtz’s identity on the card, the cops didn’t have to sweat so much before finding the suspect. And while Sheriff Staly understood his dire need for the items he took, he still had to apply the law. The act of leaving the card behind, according to the law, doesn’t absolve someone from committing a burglary.

May 26 – Domestic Dispute Leads Florida Man to Bite Off Pet Snake’s Head

It’s one thing to hold a snake and feel its slimy skin slide through your hands and another thing to hold it with your teeth. No amount of rage should ever let you decapacitate a pet python using your teeth, according to state laws.

Well, a Florida man screwed the law and decided to go his way when a woman he was with in his apartment aggravated him. The infuriated man decided to poke the woman’s soft spot with a nail and kill her beloved pet. He wasn’t going to back down after the cops’ arrival, even becoming violent with them. Your question must be, how about using a Taser, right? That didn’t affect him at all. So, you wonder, what might have infuriated the man so much to reverberate across his entire being and defy the laws of nature?

The cops alighted at the Saga Bay apartment complex in South West Florida over a domestic dispute case. No one was opening #108, despite their multiple attempts to knock. So, they got vocal too, after hearing a fight between a man and a woman inside the apartment, asking them to open the door. As things got worse, the woman could be heard yelling at the cops, asking them to break into the house. What a scene they found inside!

The woman was standing about 20 meters away from the main door as the man, Kevin Mayorga ran behind a door to lock himself in. One of the cops rushed to use his Taser on him, which didn’t help. The 32-year-old threw tantrums at the cops, even resisting arrest and striking an officer with his cuffed hands. At this point, the cops had to place Mayorga in leg restraints, which allowed them to assess the situation.

The cops found out Mayorga had bitten off the woman’s pet python, separating its head from the body. As such, he was charged with animal cruelty, besides resisting an officer with violence and false imprisonment.
