Florida Man Docket – May 8

May 8 – Zebra Fatally Shot By Owner For Escaping an Unlicensed Facility in Florida

There are many ways to deal with a wandering pet animal, including using a lasso and harmlessly capturing it. Returning the animal to its natural habitat is also a safe option for both the owner and the animal. However, a Florida man resorted to something totally different after his pet zebra called Shadow ran out of his facility.

The unidentified man used a rifle on Shadow the Zebra without a license of ownership. That’s not to mean that the license would have given him the leeway to preserve or end the animal’s life. But being unlicensed shows how entitled the man was.

Shadow lived in an expansive scenic pasture in Florida called Cottonwood Ranch, per First Coast News. The animal escaped the lush pasture and was seen trotting down a local road. There has to be something about ill treatment when a grass-eater thinks of escaping a lush green pasture. Or, was it just missing the wild after being on its own?

The owner’s neighbor who felt sorry for the animal’s death had seen it walking and grazing by a local road while walking her dog. The neighbor, Jenee Watkins, saw the events leading to the animal’s fatal shooting. As the animal was grazing by the road, a car came zooming, which scared the animal as to run into a yard and later back into the ranch where it lived. The cop car was still zooming when the owner shot Shadow. The neighbor who was still standing saw the animal fall after being shot.

Another neighbor, Stephen Young told First Coast News the owner had time to capture the animal instead of killing it. The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission investigated the issue, establishing that the escaped animal never injured any persons during its time of escape. The owner who remained unidentified to the public had no license permitting possession of the animal, which in this case would be a Class III permit.

May 8 – Florida Man Arrested for Attacking Mom for Refusing to Dress Mannequin

If you had doubts about how screwed-up this generation is, then here’s proof. Can you imagine trying to strangle your mother for simply not dressing a dummy in the 80s? The legal system itself would start with a good beating before you’re in cuffs.

Well, things are changing and rowdy kids are seemingly loving it, or probably thinking they can get away with their ill moves.

One South Florida man did not just hit his 73-year-old mother, he also tried strangling him after she defied his demands. The man and his mother were in their yard when he asked her to dress his mannequin. However, the senior woman failed to comply with his demands, which didn’t augur well with Dankner, the 40-year-old son. So he blocked her way into the house, at which she pushed the mannequin and fell it down, said the deputies. Dankner then went to pick up the mannequin, allowing his mother to run into the house.

The 40-year-old pushed the mother to the floor and hit her head with a small stool he had picked from the floor. Despite her mother’s pain, aggravated Dankner reached for some dumplings that were meant for dinner and started shoving them into his mother’s mouth, per the affidavit.

At this point, the elderly woman ran short of breath, but his son couldn’t show mercy. And even when she cried for help, the man decided to use a different attack method by throwing some dishes, a ceramic cup, and other items in the kitchen. Dankner showed no signs of stopping until a neighbor who heard his mother’s cry for help called the cops on him.

When the cops arrived, they placed Dankner in cuffs before he was charged with aggravated battery on a victim above 65 years and domestic battery by strangulation. The woman was rushed to the hospital where she was stitched, according to WPTV.
