Florida Man Docket – May 16
May 16 – Florida Crash Victim Steals Good Samaritan Truck that Came to Help Him
A 27-year-old Florida man must have been placing his wrong foot forward all his life. It’s one mistake to cause a crash on a Florida highway and another to steal a car that came to help you. While Florida men have been after Good Samaritan trucks for a while, you wonder why they don’t immediately spray the branded vehicles to avoid being nabbed soon after.
Zachary Searls almost died after causing a crash on Interstate 95, hitting a car from behind, and then driving into a tree. His car caught fire and would have incinerated had a Good Samaritan car not driven in right on time. However, to everyone’s shock, the man he just helped went straight to his pickup and drove off.
But can you really get away with a Good Samaritan truck? Well, Searls was seemingly tired of the day’s escapades and drove straight to his home. Can you imagine confidently parking a stolen car in your home? Deputies from Volusia County Sheriff’s reportedly found the car parked in Searl’s home just moments later. Was he stealing a whole truck like someone who had tons of items to transport just to casually park it in his home?
Well, that earned him grand theft of a motor vehicle among other charges, and a $6,000 bond.
Seems like Florida men wait to learn of something their fellows did and try to do it better. A few years later, another Florida man had hit the traffic median when woman pulled over to help. The man wasn’t touched by her kind move and instead chose to repay her by stealing her car.
However, the man wasn’t as good at driving, so he crossed the traffic median and collided head-on with a tractor trailer. He hadn’t had time to wear a seat belt, so he suffered fatal injuries from the crash. And as if it was instant karma, the trailer driver sustained no serious injuries but the car heist died.

May 16 – Florida Man Who Drove His Ferrari 360 Off Pier Told Cops Jesus Told Him So
A Florida man drove his Ferrari 360 into the Intercoastal Waterway and later told the cops he was following what Jesus told him. The man, James Mucciaccio, drove his car, seemingly intending to park it on the dock. However, the cops told him he couldn’t park it there and asked for his driving license. The man walked up to his car, as if getting the license, when he reportedly reversed it, changed into driving mode, and jetted off the pier into the water at cracking speed.
Lucky enough, the cops witnessing the events were on standby and could marshal the needed help. Mucciaccio enjoyed a few moments when his luxury car seemed to be gliding on the water’s surface. However, as things started going south, the man was on high alert and managed to exit the car. Divers also came to his rescue and pulled him out of the waters. His vehicle was retrieved from the ocean within less than 24 hours after its crash into the waters.
After getting to the shore, the man clearly said that Jesus told him to drive into a small door and a window. He added that an officer at the dock was Egyptian and didn’t believe in Jesus – the more reason he drove off. The man sustained no injuries from the incident, for which he said Jesus made him the smartest guy on the earth. While it wasn’t clear what he referred to, he said it wasn’t easy to have as much responsibility as he did. He also urged the cops to smile because money would lose its relevance in two days.
No one would understand what he meant but there he was unscathed and with his vehicle, which reportedly had no chance of ever getting back to the road. The police later found that the license plate on Mucciaccio wasn’t the car’s plate but instead belonged to his Mustang.
