June 6 – Florida Man Arrested After TikTok Videos Show Him Running Over Deer
A 27-year-old Florida man was arrested in late 2023 after detectives from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office identified him from TikTok videos showing him running over deer. Upon being pulled over for a traffic violation, Clay Kinney not only confirmed he posted the TikTok video but also that he had intended to hit four other deer with his Chevrolet Tahoe full-size SUV.
According to the arrest report and charge sheet, Kinney’s confession about trying to slam into a herd of deer resulted in five counts of animal torment. He was charged with one count of animal torture for the deer that did not get away from the hurtling Tahoe; plus, he was driving with a suspended license. The suspension, which dates back to 2021, also involved a deer.
Kinney lives in rural Geneva; he owns land near the boundaries of Little Big Econlockhatchee State Forest, a lush nature preserve where sandhill, scrub, and oak-palm hammocks provide habitat to white-tailed deer. In 2021, he was involved in a traffic accident on a road that cuts across the forest; the police officer who responded noticed that Kinney was struggling to get a fawn out of a dog crate in the back of his truck, and he explained that he had rescued the baby deer to release it on his property; ho but he got rear-ended on his way home. The officer did not buy the story and arrested Kinney on suspicion of trapping a fawn outside of hunting season. At the time, Kinney could have avoided a license suspension by paying a fine even though the accident was his fault, but he never did so.

June 6 – Florida Man Tormented Neighbors For 18 Years Before Getting Arrested
Long-running neighbor disputes such as the ones that often play out on the NextDoor social network tend to feature passive-aggressive behavior and trolling that dissipate after a few days, weeks, months, or even a couple of years. This type of conflict resolution strategy did not suit Scott Lash Levin, a 70-year-old Florida man who harassed an elderly couple in his neighborhood for nearly two decades.
In December 2023, a couple in their early 70s called the police to complain about Levin’s antisocial behavior and patterns of harassment, which were often recorded by a visible Ring camera installed on the door of the couple’s home in Deerfield Beach. The call was routed to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office, and deputies assigned to work with elderly victims of crime were dispatched.
According to a report broadcast by WPLG Local 10, Levin and his victims live in Century Village, a large residential development for senior citizens. The problems began when all parties involved were still in their mid-50s; they stemmed from an intense altercation during a community event in 2005, and they reached a critical point when the couple warned Levin that they had installed a Ring camera to document the obscenities, threats, and insults he frequently delivers when walking past their door. The couple patiently allowed the condominium’s security firm to deal with Levin, and they were later advised to call the police and file a complaint.
Chapter 415 of the Florida Statutes deals with crimes against elderly victims, particularly along the lines of physical, emotional, and financial abuse as well as exploitation. Levin was charged with offenses related to this law; however, the booking report mentions that the crimes did not cause significant harm, thus allowing the defendant to serve a term of probation instead of jail.
