June 18 – Florida Man Chased by A Flock of Birds for Trying to Steal Peacock
If you’re contemplating moving to Florida, you better not be a beginner! You want to reconsider your plan, especially if you’re accustomed to using your neighbor’s items without their permission. Otherwise, be prepared for unexpected squirrel attacks for just walking down a park or a mad squirrel could bite off your skin for no apparent reason. Besides, you must know how to deal with a neighbor that pressure washes you when you meet outside. Better spare yourself some havoc if you lack the patience to deal with the most screwed-up issues.
Funny thing, Floridians are the most loyal, united people on earth. In this land, you’ll hear of cockroach-eating contests where men come in the middle of the night to whack down cockroaches and worms. Such contests have mowed a few contestants but that hasn’t sounded enough alarm. You’ll be termed the most creative if, during an impending hurricane, you think of announcing a hurricane shooting event.
That loyalty resounds with every creature that finds itself in the Sunshine State. So, if you think of stealing a neighbor’s peacock, you better plan how to keep off the angry flock of peacocks that will come chasing you.
When a Coconut Grove man tried that, he knew he would have to face the other birds. So, he wasn’t that afraid. A surveillance video shows the suspect prowling about his neighbor’s compound, reaching for an exotic bird. After calculating his moves, the man finally caught one resentful bird and plucked its feathers in the process. As he tucked the bird under his arm, he sprinted to his truck when he saw a group of angry birds chasing him.
Well, the man didn’t belong to that neighborhood, as the neighbors confirmed. And while they wanted the birds removed for soiling their front yards, they were displeased by the suspect’s way of removing them. They didn’t want them stolen, in other words.

June 18 – Florida Man Misspells the Word “School” Twice in a Doral Crosswalk
A Florida road crew must have done poorly at spelling classes to make such a grade-school-level mistake. While the word school isn’t ranked among the most misspelled words in schools, it is apparently challenging Florida road crews. Instead, they end up painting “scohol”.
Well, the misspelled words stuck around the crosswalk for a while. Who knows? Floridians might have seen it and decided to let the school deal with their own issues. I mean, everyone is plagued by their own things without ever receiving help.
However, a motorist stopping at the crosswalk captured the mistake and pointed it out to WPLG. Oddly, not even the school had noticed it. So, it’s unclear how long this went on. As expected, the flub went viral on social media and was still trending after the interested people fixed the error.
Besides Doral, another road crew repeated the mistake in Deltona, Volusia County. While the road crew was announcing the resumption of a Central Florida school, folks speculated that the contractors needed the classes more. The road leading up to Pine Ridge High School was painted with “SCOHOL” on both sides. Just as it had been in the previous scenario, the mistake lay out in the open for who knows how long until a passerby alerted News 6. The mistake was fixed before classes resumed a few days later.
Orange County also got its share of the Florida education jokes when private contractors misspelled the same word. The mistake was spotted on Golfway Boulevard which is south of Waterford Lakes in Orange County. While a county spokeswoman termed the mistake honest, the team waited until night to correct the mistake. So, whether the teams were shy that people would see them as illiterate, or they waited until the road was clear, what’s important is the error was fixed.
